Kåbdali's ski resort, between Älvsbyn and Jokkmokk, will be significantly expanded starting this summer.

There will be 150 new single-family homes, 50 new terraced houses, 60 new caravan spaces, two new lifts and 150 new parking spaces, among other things.

"We make our dreams come true"

Jokkmokk's municipal board has said yes to the detailed plan that regulates the expansion and the decision in the council in a week will only be a formality.

- Now it's ready and it feels wonderful.

I'm really happy about this.

We have run Kåbdalis as a family business since 1966 and now we will realize our dreams of a twice as large facility.

It should be similar to the northern Finnish facilities such as Levi and Ruka in terms of restaurants, entertainment and other commercial elements, says Johan Gunnarstedt, CEO of Kåbdali's ski resort.

"Becomes a destination"

On June 1, construction will start and the idea is to work with the expansion during the bare ground periods for the next five years.

- We go from being primarily a good winter sports facility to becoming a real destination with more private winter accommodation, hotels and new infrastructure, says Johan Gunnarstedt, CEO of Kåbdali's ski resort.

The Gunnarstedt family will invest 90 million in the expansion themselves.

- But if we include all private investments in various holiday homes in Kåbdalis, it is probably a total investment of between 400 and 500 million kronor, says Johan Gunnarstedt.
