China News Service, Beijing, April 26 (Reporter Li Chun) A reporter from China News Service recently learned from the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine that Chinese medicine has spread to 196 countries and regions and has received Chinese medicine, acupuncture, massage or Qigong globally. The number of people treated has reached more than one third of the world's total population.

According to statistics from the World Health Organization, currently 113 member states have approved the use of acupuncture, 29 of which have established relevant laws and regulations, and 20 member states have incorporated acupuncture into the medical insurance system.

The health insurance system of some countries also covers other TCM therapies.

According to the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China, in its foreign medical assistance, China has dispatched medical teams to more than 70 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Almost every medical team has TCM personnel, accounting for approximately 10% of the total.

Focusing on international cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine, China is promoting cooperation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine with countries along the “Belt and Road”.

Since 2015, China has carried out the construction of 59 TCM foreign exchange and cooperation demonstration bases in China, and carried out the construction of 30 high-quality TCM overseas centers with relevant countries along the “Belt and Road”.

Up to now, overseas centers and demonstration bases have cooperated with 88 countries, serving a total of 150,000 foreign people, training 7,100 foreign professionals, training more than 10,000 students, and promoting legislation in the Czech Republic, Hungary and other countries on traditional Chinese medicine. .

On the other hand, the international development of Chinese medicine still faces many difficulties and challenges: From an international perspective, due to differences in cultural backgrounds and theoretical systems, most overseas health management models are based on modern medical systems, including traditional Chinese medicine. Medicine is in a complementary and alternative position in most countries.

From a domestic perspective, the quality and efficiency of the development of Chinese medicine are still weak, the existing export-oriented cooperation mechanism has not been able to meet the development needs of the situation, and an internationally competitive export-oriented team has not yet been formed.

The "going global" of Chinese medicine involves many departments, and it is necessary to further strengthen the integration of resources and at the same time increase the training of international talents for Chinese medicine.

To solve these problems in the process of internationalization of Chinese medicine, in what areas does China need to make efforts?

The State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China stated that it is necessary to strengthen the sharing of experience in the field of Chinese medicine management through multilateral and bilateral government cooperation and other mechanisms, encourage Chinese medicine services and products to enter the international market, and create a good domestic and foreign atmosphere for the international development of Chinese medicine.

At the same time, it is necessary to extensively carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of Chinese medicine, medicine, science and technology, education, industry, culture, etc., expand the scope of application of Chinese medicine, and increase the understanding and recognition of Chinese medicine by the international community; strengthen cooperation with relevant ministries and commissions to promote Chinese medicine Form synergy in "going out"; strengthen the training of Chinese medicine talents, and provide talent guarantee for the internationalization of Chinese medicine.
