Significantly more deaths than births in the past year

Halle (dpa / sa) - According to preliminary information from the State Statistical Office, around 16,100 babies were born in Saxony-Anhalt last year.

The authority announced on Monday.

That is about 500 children less than in 2019. According to preliminary information, the statisticians reported about 33,800 deaths from Saxony-Anhalt.

This results in a so-called birth difference, as the difference between those born alive and those who died, of 17,700 people.
