The circumstances of the accident and the reasons which prompted the motorist to flee remain unclear the day after the events.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, a car left the road on a departmental road in Machilly, Haute-Savoie. After the shock, the driver of the vehicle fled, according to

Le Dauphiné Libéré,

leaving behind his passenger seriously injured.

To get this woman in her thirties out of the car, twelve firefighters were mobilized.

Once extricated, the victim was treated on site by a Samu team and transported to hospital.

It is not known in what state it is now.

The fleeing driver had not been found at dawn on Monday morning.
