Paris will pay tribute to Sarah Halimi.

During a rally on the Place du Trocadéro against the lack of trial in this case, Anne Hidalgo announced Sunday that a street in the city would bear the name of this Jewish sexagenarian killed in 2017 in the capital.

"It will also be a way to do him justice, not to give him back his life, but to do him justice" explained the mayor on BFMTV.

"It is a project on which we will obviously work with the family," said the city councilor for whom "this crime must be judged".

On the political level, Anne Hidalgo also wants "a new law and that this law is called Sarah Halimi".

"Anti-Semitism is a plague"

The president of the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Licra), Mario Stasi, had asked that a street in Paris be named after Sarah Halimi, after the decision of the Court of Cassation.

On April 14, this Court confirmed the criminal irresponsibility of the sexagenarian murderer, while upholding the anti-Semitic nature of the crime.

The mayor of Paris has also returned to this last point by stressing that "anti-Semitism is a plague, it is a scourge which undermines the foundations of our Republic".
