Markkleeberg (dpa) - Timo Trummer will take part in the European Canoe Slalom Championships as the third Canadian starter alongside the top athletes Franz Anton and Sideris Tasiadis. At the title fights in Ivrea, Italy from May 6th to 9th, Zeitzer will try to get the still open quota for the Olympic Games in Tokyo for the German Canoe Association (DKV). Trummer prevailed on Sunday after three days of sighting trips against Leipzig's Lennard Tuchscherer, who was disqualified for missing a start. Anton from Leipzig and Tasiadis from Augsburg were pre-qualified for the national team, as were Olympic starters Hannes Aigner (Augsburg) and Ricarda Funk (Bad Kreuznach) in a kayak and world champion Andrea Herzog (Leipzig / Canadier).

The other EM starters are Tim Maxeiner (Wiesbaden / K1) and Stefan Hengst (Hamm / K1), Elena Apel (Augsburg / K1 and C1), Cindy Pöschel (Leipzig / K1) and Lena Stöcklin (Leipzig / C1).

National coach Klaus Pohlen paid the greatest attention to the C1 result and the form of Anton and Tasiadis.

“The established Franz and Sideris have a clear advantage in Ivrea compared to Timo Trummer, simply because they have been there more often and have presented themselves much better here.

But there have always been surprises in canoe slalom.

Maybe a young man can do it, ”said the national coach.
