A man was sentenced to three years in prison including 18 months suspended by the criminal court of Béziers, for having collided with two vehicles of the gendarmerie, during a chase, on the night of April 19 to 20.

He was driving after losing all the points on his driver's license and was under the influence of narcotics (cannabis and amphetamine).

Two sachets containing 16.4 grams of amphetamine and 17 ecstasy tablets were found in his vehicle.

He had fled when the soldiers of the surveillance and intervention platoon of the Lodève gendarmerie wanted to control his vehicle in Aspiran (Hérault).

A few kilometers further, in the town of Neflès, he had struck a vehicle of the Pézenas gendarmerie, which had come as a reinforcement, to free itself.

Before hitting another gendarmerie vehicle while trying to get out of a dead end where he had entered.

Already convicted on multiple occasions

Three gendarmes had been slightly injured (contusions resulting in five days of total incapacity for work) in this maneuver.

The fugitive was arrested on this occasion.

His criminal record showed five convictions between 2004 and 2019 for traffic offenses and offenses against the legislation on narcotic products.
