Hamburg (dpa) - SpVgg Greuther Fürth was slowed down by the best second division team in the second league when it ran towards the Bundesliga.

The Franks lost 1: 2 (0: 1) at FC St. Pauli on Sunday.

Paul Seguin shortened only deep in stoppage time.

Despite the sixth defeat of the season, the runner-up is still three points ahead of Hamburger SV, who only played 1-1 in Regensburg.

In fourth place, however, lies Kiel, which has five points less than the Fürth team, but has played three fewer games.

Pauli and Fürth played an intense game in the Millerntor Stadium.

Overall, the hosts were more determined and effective: Luca Zander scored a cross from Rodrigo Zalazar (10th minute).

After the break, it was the former Nuremberg Guido Burgstaller who, after brilliant preparatory work by the strong Zalazar Fürth's goalkeeper Sascha Burchert, was able to slip over (50th).

A little later, Burchert even prevented a third goal against Zalazar (69th).

The guests not only lacked defensive stability.

In the offensive actions, the team of coach Stefan Leitl missed the usual precision except for Seguin's late goal.

Sebastian Ernst hit the crossbar after a cross from David Raum (21st).

And Branimir Hrgota failed to Pauli's goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic (40th).
