The man had first left the lane on the A3 near Nittendorf (district of Regensburg) early on Sunday morning and then thrown to the left, causing the van overturned, as the police announced on Sunday.
Three of the 52-year-old's five passengers were injured in the accident, one of them seriously.
He had to be operated on.
