Berlin (AP) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig wants to promote the use of Bundeswehr soldiers to vaccinate against the corona virus at the federal and state vaccination summit on Monday.

“I will speak out in favor of deploying more mobile Bundeswehr vaccination teams at the latest when we have more vaccine available.

This is a good way to develop the rural regions even better, ”said the SPD politician to the editorial network Germany (RND / Sonntag).

Schwesig also asked the federal government to be more reliable when it comes to vaccine deliveries.

"We need more vaccine and clear statements from the federal government about when we can count on which quantities of vaccine from which manufacturers," said the Prime Minister.

She also wanted to ask Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) what the federal talks on the Russian vaccine Sputnik V revealed.

"If a vaccine is safe and effective, we should use it," said Schwesig.

Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) said on Thursday after a conversation with Russian Health Minister Mikhail Muraschko that Germany wanted to purchase 30 million doses of Sputnik V, provided that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approves it.
