Munich (dpa) - CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is striving for a timely solution after coach Hansi Flick's departure from FC Bayern Munich.
“We have agreed that we will sit down after the game in Mainz,” said Rummenigge of “Bild am Sonntag”.
When asked about a possible transfer fee for the 56-year-old coach, the Bayern boss said: "If we are to meet Hansi's request, all parties must work together to find a solution that FC Bayern is also satisfied with."
Last week, Flick made his wish to terminate his contract public without consulting the club. He is considered the favorite to succeed national coach Joachim Löw this summer, but he still has a contract with Munich until 2023. "We're talking about a coach who has achieved something historic with us and with whose work we are very happy." said Rummenigge about a possible transfer fee for Flick.
Rummenigge also defended sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, who after Flick's wish to leave, had become a target for a number of fans and was hostile to him.
Rummenigge criticized that it was “not fair how the public is currently dealing with Hasan”.
«At the moment the public is targeting Hasan Salihamidzic.
But at FC Bayern we make all decisions, including transfers and squad questions, together with the board of directors and the supervisory board - and the coach is just as involved. "
There were repeated differences between Salihamidzic and Flick.
