Leipzig (AP) - RB Leipzig prevented Bayern Munich from winning the title early.

Julian Nagelsmann's team won 2-0 (0-0) against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday after three home games without a win.

The Leipziger thus shortened the gap in the Bundesliga table on the German soccer record champions to seven points.

For the newcomer, who had to play from the 13th minute after a red card without Naouirou Ahamada, it was the fourth defeat in a row.

After two goalless games in the Red Bull Arena, Amadou Haidara (46th) took the RB lead before substitute Emil Forsberg increased with a foul penalty (67th).

After the 2-1 defeat in Cologne, Nagelsmann brought in Ibrahima Konaté in central defense for Dayot Upamecano, with whom he was “not so happy” recently.

The four changes in the line-up had nothing to do with the upcoming Bremen Cup game, emphasized the head coach, who recently called for more “straightforwardness towards goal” after the usury of opportunities.

RB started with a lot of speed and pressure. In the VfB penalty area, however, there was a lack of accuracy and serenity to bring the actions to success with an overview. The first shot on goal was not made until the 16th minute by Christopher Nkunku - Gregor Kobel parried. And this was already outnumbered after Ahamada, who had been cautioned with yellow, had to leave the field. After a hint from the video assistant, referee Deniz Aytekin looked at the open-toed foul on Haidara again and decided on straight red. Before the break, the attentive VfB keeper Kobel prevented the RB lead twice, first against Nkunku, then against Konaté (36./37.).

With the restart, Nagelsmann brought in the yellow warning Konaté Upamecano. Then everything happened very quickly. Dani Olmo crossed into the penalty area, where Haidara (46th) headed the lead. It was the fastest RB goal in the Bundesliga after the restart. RB continued to storm non-stop, the team of coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, who once worked as an assistant coach at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim under Nagelsmann, only concentrated on defending.

The Leipzig exploitation of opportunities left something to be desired again.

This was mainly due to Kobel, who parried brilliantly twice in the 63rd minute.

First he fended off the Angelinó shot (63.) to the side and was then wide awake when Alexander Sörloth shot him up.

Nagelsmann then brought Forsberg (65th) for Nkunku and Nordi Mukiele for Klostermann.

Forsberg's first touch was effective: he stormed into the penalty area and was knocked down by Konstantinos Mavropanos.

He converted the penalty (66th) safely.

With the longed-for home win, RB is back on record course.

This takes 67 meters and more.

Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl came second in the premiere season in 2016/2017 with 67 points.

Nagelsmann repeatedly emphasized that he wanted to play "the most successful season in the club's history".

This also includes the first title in the twelfth year after it was founded.

RB wants to lay the foundation for this on Friday in the DFB Cup semi-finals (8.30 p.m.) at Werder Bremen.

The Stuttgart found no means offensively and did not give a single shot on goal.

According to Opta, that had only happened to Werder Bremen at 0: 6 at Bayern in October 2014 since the data was recorded in a Bundesliga game in 2004/05.
