Cottbus (dpa / bb) - People in the south of Brandenburg demonstrated against the applicable Corona regulations with motorcars over the weekend. According to the police, a total of around 436 vehicles took part in the protests. The actions were therefore largely peaceful. For example, on Sunday from Bestensee (Dahme-Spreewald), over 200 vintage cars drove almost 70 kilometers across the country to protest against the current containment ordinance with night-time exit restrictions. In Cottbus around 70 cars drove through the city center for over two hours, in Senftenberg (Oberspreewald-Lausitz) there were around 70 vehicles. A counter-demonstration with around 20 participants also took place there. A 66-year-old stepped on the road and tried to stop the parade, as police spokesman Maik Kettlitz reported on Sunday. He is now being investigated, among other things, for violating the Assembly Act.

On Saturday, 60 vehicles in Guben and 36 in Spremberg (Spree-Neisse) had made their rounds through the city center.

The district is currently the corona hotspot in the country with a seven-day incidence over 200.
