Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Michael Kruse is the new state chairman of the Hamburg FDP.

At a largely online party congress, 207 members voted on Sunday for the 37-year-old former co-parliamentary group leader in the citizenry.

127 voted for the former MP Daniel Oetzel.

There were also three no votes and two abstentions in the ballot.

Kruse succeeds the Bundestag member Katja Suding, who stopped running after seven years as state chairman and wants to withdraw from active politics after the Bundestag election in September.
