On April 21, an Indonesian navy submarine carrying 53 people lost contact during a torpedo launching exercise.

The Indonesian military said on the 24th that search and rescue personnel had found the wreckage of the missing submarine and multiple items inside the submarine, and then officially announced that the submarine had "sinked."
