The Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Aviv Kochavi, instructed the army forces to prepare for all possible scenarios on the borders, including the possibility of escalation with Gaza, while the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on the Palestinian factions to unite and remain on alert.

The repeated Israeli attacks on worshipers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, since the first day of the month of Ramadan, have tense conditions in occupied Jerusalem, especially in the areas of Bab al-Amud and Bab al-Sahira.

"The army hesitated to respond to the shells fired from Gaza, because the security leadership believes that if Jerusalem calms down, the atmosphere on the borders will calm down," Kochavi said - during a situation assessment session and security consultations that he chaired today, Sunday. Sector ".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had instructed the army to be prepared and prepared to deal with any possible scenario in the Gaza Strip.

This comes after the Palestinian resistance launched rockets at Israel, in solidarity with the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.

Yesterday, Saturday, confrontations in occupied Jerusalem were renewed for the 12th consecutive night, after the occupation forces suppressed Palestinian youths in Bab al-Amoud Square.

The Israeli police attacked worshipers in the Bab al-Amud area (central Jerusalem) with batons and threw sound and gas bombs at them as they left Al-Aqsa Mosque after performing the evening prayers and Tarawih prayers.

On the other hand, Palestinian youths threw stones and bottles at the Israeli police.

According to eyewitnesses, the confrontations spread to other areas in Jerusalem, especially the towns of Silwan and Al-Tur, which are adjacent to the city.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that "14 people were injured in the clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of the Old City of occupied Jerusalem."

The confrontations also spread to separate areas in the West Bank, when the occupation suppressed marches that took place in several areas there, including Ramallah and Nablus, denouncing the Israeli repression and supporting the steadfastness of worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said that the Israeli army injured 5 journalists and arrested 3 others in different areas of the occupied West Bank in recent days.

Security Council

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the UN Security Council to take practical measures to put an end to the occupation, settlements and violations against Palestinians and Jerusalemites in particular.

The Ministry affirmed, in a statement, that the Security Council’s reluctance to implement its decisions transforms it into a global forum that stands at the limits of diagnosing the situation, and does not abide by its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.

The Foreign Ministry indicated that this matter leads to shuffling the cards, and not holding Israel directly responsible for its violations and crimes, and prevents it from being forced to end its occupation and settlement, according to the statement.

For his part, Azzam Al-Ahmad, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said in radio statements that Israel did not respond to Palestine's request and international pressure to allow elections to take place in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

He added, "Israel adheres to the American deal of the century and considers it a gain and an irreversible step from it, especially considering the united city of Jerusalem as its capital."

Hamas prepares

On the other hand, Hamas called today, Sunday, the Palestinian factions and Jerusalemites to form a "unified field command" in the occupied city of Jerusalem to confront the Israeli attacks.

Hamas said in a statement that "what is required is more cohesion and unity between all the factions and the youth and women activists working in the field (the city of Jerusalem)."

And she continued, "We call on the people of the West Bank and the Palestinian interior (Israel) to travel to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to perform prayers in front of the military checkpoints that prevent their access to the city of Jerusalem."

It also called on Jerusalemites to continue gathering in the Old City and at its gates.

And she stressed the need for the continuation of the night confusion in the Zionist neighborhoods and the areas near the settlements and the streets leading to them.

In Gaza, the movement called on the resistance factions to prepare to target the enemy's military and vital installations in defense of Al-Aqsa, according to the same statement.

She added that expressing solidarity with Jerusalem must be done in all available forms and means, as the people of Jerusalem are not alone in the field.

During the past two days, cities and camps in the Gaza Strip witnessed hundreds of Palestinians in demonstrations in solidarity with the residents of occupied Jerusalem.

Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip also took part in a stand today in solidarity with the residents of occupied Jerusalem, organized by the Feminist Framework for the Islamic Jihad Movement in Gaza City.
