Weiterstadt (dpa / lhe) - Glowing coals have triggered a balcony fire in southern Hesse, in which several people suffered minor injuries.
The coals were supposed to cool down in a vessel, but they lit the balcony furniture on Sunday night.
Parts of the facade of the affected apartment building in Weiterstadt (Darmstadt-Dieburg district) were also damaged, the police said.
All residents were able to leave the tenement on their own, but five of them suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation.
A 40-year-old man and two children (3 and 8) were brought to a clinic as a precaution.
