RB Leipzig won 2-0 on Sunday at home against Stuttgart, strengthening their second place in the Bundesliga and pushing back by two weeks at best the ninth consecutive coronation of Bayern, beaten the day before in Mainz (2-1).

The Bavarians, who are only seven points ahead with three days remaining, missed the first match point that would have offered them a 31st German league title.

They have three left: the next one will be on Saturday 8 May, at home against Mönchengladbach for the 32nd day.

Leipzig, with seven points ahead of third Wolfsburg, has no other objective than to secure his title of vice-champion.

RB will finish on the podium for the fourth time in five seasons since joining the Bundesliga in 2016.

Julian Nagelsmann's players took a long time to measure Stuttgart.

Eleven against ten in the 14th minute, after the exclusion of Naouriou Ahamada for a sole on the shin of Amadou Haidara, they stumbled against a disciplined and very well established Stuttgart defense.

The deliverance arrived by Haidara just after returning from the locker room.

The Malian resumed victoriously with a powerful header a cross from the Spanish international Dani Olmo (1-0, 46th).

The Swiss goalkeeper from Stuttgart Gregor Kobel then worked miracles to delay the break in Leipzig, including an extraordinary double save on a shot from Angelino and the recovery of Olmo (63rd).

But Emil Forsberg finally killed the match by converting a penalty (2-0, 67th), leaving Stuttgart comfortably installed in 10th place in the soft underbelly of the championship.
