A fire broke out late on the night of the 24th at a hospital in southern Baghdad that treats patients with the new coronavirus, killing 82 people and injuring more than 100 so far, according to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior.



Local health officials said most of the victims were patients and their families, and more than 200 people, including patients and medical staff, were rescued from the scene.



Local media reported that the fire broke out on the floor where the intensive care unit was located, causing an oxygen cylinder to explode, and police and health officials are investigating the cause.



In Iraq, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus per day has been increasing to over 6,000 recently, and the weakness of the medical system is a problem.
