Boldekow (dpa / mv) - With a warning shot, police officers stopped a transporter driver during a corona check in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.

As a police spokesman said on Sunday, the incident occurred on Saturday at the immigration control in the district in Boldekow.

The 51-year-old driver showed the papers during the inspection, but then suddenly locked the car and drove towards an officer.

This gave off a warning shot in the air.

Then the man stopped and tried to escape by reversing.

An officer broke the window and stopped the man.

The 51-year-old was taken out of the vehicle and provisionally detained.

He was slightly injured in the process.

The officers were not injured.

The suspect will be reimbursed for attempted dangerous bodily harm and resistance to law enforcement officers.

His motive is unclear.

Entry into the Vorpommern-Greifswald district is prohibited for non-residents due to the high number of corona infections.

The police checked at several district borders, including in Rollwitz on Bundesstraße 109. There, numerous visitors from Berlin and Brandenburg, who traditionally drive along to Usedom, were stopped and turned away.
