It is a race against time which is engaged in Greece to save the tourist season: the authorities are working hard to complete as a priority the vaccination of dozens of small islands in the Aegean (east) and Ionian (west) before vaccination larger ones, welcoming millions of tourists each year, with a view to the official opening of the tourist season in mid-May.

As in the majority of countries in southern Europe, Greece began in early April to gradually open non-essential shops and schools before the scheduled opening on May 3 of outdoor cafes and restaurants.

To travel to Greece, visitors will need a vaccination certificate or a negative Covid-19 screening test of less than 72 hours.

The France 24 teams have traveled to the picturesque island of Kea, in the Cyclades, where locals are eager to welcome tourists again.
