Russian military scientists are developing new automated control systems (ACS).

This was stated by the deputy head of the military innovation technopolis "Era" (Anapa) Colonel Andrey Morozov at the All-Russian conference "State and prospects of development of modern science in the direction of" ACS, information and telecommunication systems "held within the walls of this institution.

In this regard, the deputy chief of "Era" noted the importance of the previously adopted concept for the development of the control system of the RF Armed Forces until 2025.

One of its main goals is guaranteed command and control of troops in a single information space (UIS).

"This concept implies the creation of a global information environment that provides comprehensive processing on a real scale of information about the enemy, its troops, the surrounding area in order to support decision-making on the creation of a force grouping that is optimal for achieving the goals and effective use in various conditions," explained Morozov ...

From reconnaissance to fire damage

He also said that employees of the Era technopolis, together with specialists from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), are planning to deploy a prototype of a central ground satellite communications station.

This product will be used for testing in a new frequency range.

In addition, the technopolis engineers made a layout for the control of a special-purpose satellite network using radio photonics technology and domestic telecommunications equipment.

In the field of improving the automated control system, technopolis, including in cooperation with other enterprises, implements several breakthrough projects at once and conducts a number of promising studies, Morozov said.

Thus, Era's specialists have successfully tested a reconfigurable communication system created by the Moscow company Microwave Electronics, which is highly stable, on a UAV.

During the tests, it turned out that the transmission of the radio signal to the drone can be carried out over considerable distances.

From the point of view of the military, this technology is of great practical importance, including in the context of the rapid development of unmanned platforms.

Together with colleagues from Ryazan Radiozavod JSC, technopolis engineers are creating an automated control system device that provides full control over the actions of personnel and military equipment in the field.

Its key element is a unique positioning device that is placed on military equipment and weapons.

In addition, in cooperation with scientists from the Military Academy of Communications named after

Budyonny, Era employees made a module for simulating the operational environment using multisensor technologies.

The software of this complex provides the issuance of interactive materials for planning, organizing and monitoring the work of officials.

The most ambitious project of Era is the creation of a control system for a group of mixed robotic complexes (RTK).

In this direction, the technopolis employees are assisted by the engineers of the Penza JSC "Radiozavod".

To date, a stand has been created that allows you to work out control algorithms for unmanned vehicles.

It is presented at the Innovation Day exhibition, which has been taking place in Era since early April.

The work on the automated control system began in January 2021, and it is planned to complete them in June 2023.

The project is proactive in nature.

The automated control system should provide information to ground-based RTKs, vehicles, drones and mobile reconnaissance points, which are necessary for reconnaissance and target designation to missile and artillery systems.

“The decision to use fire in any case will be made by a person.

The role of the automated control system is to process the information received during reconnaissance on the position and the number of enemy forces and to offer the commander the most optimal options for defeating the enemy, ”explained Roman Lvov, operator of the 2nd scientific company, in an interview with RT.

According to him, the key function of the promising ACS is to "support decision-making."

The commander of a link of robotic complexes can be located at a distance from the theater of operations or be directly present on the battlefield inside a combat vehicle.

As military expert Alexei Leonkov noted in an interview with RT, the automated control system, which is being created by Era and the Penza radio plant, is in demand in the Russian army due to the increase in the number and range of robotic systems.

According to him, the automated control system will allow the most optimal "distribution of the combat load" on the RTK.

“ACS for RTK should allow to effectively perform various combat missions - from reconnaissance and target designation to combat support.

The choice of the Penza radio plant, in my opinion, is due to the experience of this enterprise in the creation of such an automated control system as the Polyana D4M1, which is used to control a mixed grouping of air defense forces, ”Leonkov argues.

"Commander Support Tool"

Another project for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the great importance of which was discussed at the conference in "Era", is the completion of the development work (ROC) "Sozvezdiye-2015", which involves the creation of an automated command and control system for tactical level troops (ACCS TZ).

As Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a recent conference call with the leadership of the RF Armed Forces, the appearance of this product will improve the control of troops, weapons, intelligence, electronic warfare (EW) and communications, and will also allow the formation of unified databases.

The application of the new system in practice will simplify the receipt and processing of intelligence data, increase the efficiency of delivering orders and information about the situation to subordinate units.

The developer of the ACCS TZ is the Sozvezdie concern located in Voronezh.

The materials of the enterprise say that the system will cover aviation, armored vehicles, artillery and ground vehicles with an information field.

In a commentary to RT, the founder of the Military Russia portal Dmitry Kornev said that saturating the Russian army with new automated control systems would reveal the combat potential of existing and promising models of military equipment.

In his opinion, the RF Ministry of Defense is well aware of the importance of further progress in the development of ACS.

The expert emphasized that automated systems perform two most important functions: they link heterogeneous forces into a "single information circuit" and shorten the command and control cycle.

As a result, the commanders' awareness of the enemy and of the surrounding situation as a whole increases markedly.

“The owner of such systems gets significant advantages in the modern theater of military operations, as he works with information much more efficiently. In the current realities, the importance of the information factor is greater than ever. And the ACS is a very important tool to support the commander, who is responsible for the decisions made, ”summed up Kornev.
