Kiel (dpa / lno) - A good year before the next state election in Schleswig-Holstein, the SPD is optimistic about a return to the government.

"I'm going to this state election in order to win it together with you," said the state chairman Serpil Midyatli on Saturday at the first online party conference of the Northern SPD.

"We will have a strong program."

The SPD will also make the best personnel offer, said Midyatli, without going into it.

"We will catch up percentage point by percentage point."

Midyatli also expressed confidence that he could win back the Greens as allies.

"In the next year we will fight together for Schleswig-Holstein to get a progressive government with the courage to act for our country," she said.

Midyatli, who has been state chairwoman for two years, is running for re-election at the online party congress without opposing candidates.

The result will only be known on Sunday evening after a ballot box election.

The switched on SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz was confident about the federal election on September 26th despite the low poll numbers for his party.

The SPD wanted to lead the next federal government, he wanted to become chancellor.

The CDU and CSU would not achieve the results they would have dreamed of months ago, said Scholz.
