Sentencing in the June 16 case of the policeman convicted of killing George Floyd

A US court announced Friday that on June 16 it will hold a hearing on the sentence of former white policeman Derek Chauvin, who was convicted on Tuesday of killing his black fellow, George Floyd, in a case that shook the United States and exposed deep racial divisions in American society.

Hennepin County Courthouse in the city of Minneapolis (Midwest), where Floyd died in May asphyxiation after Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than nine minutes while he was handcuffed and crying out to allow him to breathe, said that the sentencing hearing in this case will take place on June 16.
