Stade (dpa / lni) - The parliamentary group leader of the Left Party in the Bundestag, Amira Mohamed Ali, has been elected to the top of the Lower Saxony state list for the election in September.

At the assembly meeting on Saturday in Stade, the 40-year-old lawyer from Oldenburg got 75.9 percent of the votes.

The left is fighting for a just society, said Mohamed Ali in her application.

In the corona pandemic, the federal government is leaving many people in the lurch, for example caregivers, families and teachers.

"We want a society in which everyone is well protected," said Mohamed Ali.

In place of the members voted the budget expert of the left group, Victor Perli (39).

According to the party, he got 86.7 percent of the vote.

For third place, state chairwoman Heidi Reichinnek prevailed against a competitor with 51.2 percent.
