04 July 2018 The former judge of the Sicilian Administrative Council of Justice Giuseppe Mineo was arrested for corruption. The measure was ordered by the investigating judge of Messina at the request of the prosecutor headed by the prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia. Mineo would have been interested in why the companies "Open Land Srl" and "AM Group Srl", controlled by the Frontino builders, were favored in the appeals they had filed against the Municipality and the Superintendency of Syracuse. The judge should have intervened to overestimate the compensation for the damage that the Municipality and Superintendency owed to the two companies.

Both the Open Land affair and that of the Am Group emerged in the investigation of the Messina Public Prosecutor's Office which, in February, brought in prison, among others, the former Syracuse prosecutor Giancarlo Longo and the lawyers Piero Amara and Giuseppe Calafiore, both linked to the Frontino. In exchange for his interest in the case of which Mineo was also judge rapporteur, university professor appointed to the Cga in the share of the former Sicilian governor Raffaele Lombardo, he would have asked for money for a friend: the former president of the Region Giuseppe Drago, who died in 2016 Mineo and the politician were bound by a close friendship. The former president of the Region would have been given 115 thousand euros: the sum would have been paid by the company "Ocean One Consulting Srl", attributable to lawyers Amara and Calafiore,on a Maltese account in the name of the Syracusan businessman Alessandro Ferraro, who was also already involved in the Messina investigation into Longo. Ferraro would then pass the sum over to Drago.
