In recent years, food processors have been invited to our kitchens, sounding the death knell for a culinary revolution. Problem? Like any novelty, the latter must face its detractors. But is this justified? To be sure, chef Yves Camdeborde tested the kitchen with a robot cooker and gave us his opinion on the show "La Table des bons vivant".

You have surely heard of the robot cooker, a household appliance that promises to make your life easier by allowing you to cook up good meals without taking too much of your time.

To do this, simply put all the ingredients necessary for your recipe in the "trunk" of the machine and then simmer unattended.

This saves precious time, but its usefulness remains controversial.

For some, making a dish this way is not like cooking, for example.

Operation seduction

From the Thermomix to the robot cooker from Lidl or the one from Bosch, Yves Camdeborde did not discriminate and tested several at different prices. "First of all, you have to give them a point, all of them are of very good quality and do the job very well", explains the chef. You can therefore opt for a robot cooker with your eyes closed depending on your wallet (prices can vary from single to double depending on the model).

"Afterwards, I must admit that I made dishes like a blanquette. Yes, the cooking was correct but I must admit that it does not have the same flavor as the blanquette prepared in our old casseroles."

The main reason ?

The little extra soul that makes the difference in the kitchen is not there.

Aspiring cook

Despite this detail, Yves Camdeborde must admit that he is not at all against the robot cooker but… to learn cooking.

"I think this is a great way to get a young person or a novice cook interested in cooking. It's a great way to educate people about good food by avoiding endless preparations."

Result?

The robot cooker is a good element for learning cooking but to work on recipes, adapt them to your desires and to your heart, nothing better than the traditional method.

As Pierre Perret said: "To cook well, you need good ingredients, a palate, heart and friends."
