Among them is a Kurd and 3 women .. 18 candidates for the presidential elections in Syria

The President of the Syrian People's Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, announced today, Saturday, that the Council has received four applications for candidates, including a woman, bringing the number of candidates so far to 18 candidates for the Syrian presidential elections that will take place at the end of next May.

Today, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted Al-Sabbagh as saying that among the candidates are three women and one from the Syrian Kurds.

Sources close to the Syrian Parliament revealed that, three days ago, members of Parliament began giving candidates their support to obtain 35 names in order for them to enter the presidential elections.

The sources added that the Baath Party bloc, which amounts to about 170 members in Parliament, will vote for the candidate Bashar Al-Assad, and about 80 votes from the National Front parties and independents will be voted for by two candidates.

Submission of applications for the presidential elections will end on the 28th of this month, and the 26th of next May has been set for the elections for Syrians abroad, and the 28th of next May as the date for holding the presidential elections inside the Syrian territories.
