Video hosting YouTube regularly introduces restrictions on content posted on Russian media accounts.

This was reported by the press service of Roskomnadzor.

“Films that were broadcasted on Russian federal channels and do not contain age restrictions, according to the YouTube administration, can only be accessed by adult viewers.

Many videos are broadcast after authorization on a video hosting site or additional consent to view content for adults, ”Interfax quotes a message from the department.

The RKN also pointed out that YouTube was repeatedly seen in blocking videos, "which convey to the viewers of the video hosting a position that differs from the position adopted in the West."

In particular, we are talking about a film about the contribution of the Soviet people to the victory over fascism ("Rzhev. 500 days on fire") and a film about the tragic events that took place in North Ossetia in 2004 ("Beslan").

"Also, YouTube imposed restrictions on videos containing the national anthem of the Russian Federation, explaining their actions by violation of copyright, which allegedly belong to foreign copyright holders," - explained in Roskomnadzor.

In addition, the administration of the video hosting did not delete almost 6 thousand materials with child pornography, calls for extremism, narcotic and suicidal content, and other socially dangerous information.

In total, since 2012, the RKN has identified more than 71 thousand such materials on YouTube.

According to Roskomnadzor, since the beginning of 2021, YouTube has blocked three accounts and five materials from Russian media, while in 2020 access restrictions to profiles occurred nine times, and to materials - three times.

Note that the accounts of the RT channel and the Sputnik agency were subject to censorship.

So, on April 23, four RT videos in English were blocked - a translated interview of the virologist Dmitry Lvov with journalist Anton Krasovsky, Republican Wayne Dupree's podcast "that Biden banned his supporters from coming to the rally because of COVID-19", as well as news broadcasts of protests against the lockdown in the UK.

The reason is allegedly misinformation regarding information regarding coronavirus infection.

Then the press service of Google told TASS that the blocked content allegedly "did not contain the context necessary to meet the requirements of EDSA (educational, documentary, scientific and artistic content)."

On April 24, Roskomnadzor demanded that Google "as soon as possible" remove restrictions from the YouTube channel RT, and also explain the reasons for their introduction.

“Roskomnadzor has sent a letter to the management of Google LLC demanding that all restrictions be lifted from the YouTube channel RT, owned by the Russian media, as soon as possible,” the message says.

Note that earlier, YouTube's director for relations with the authorities in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Marco Pancini, in an interview with Kommersant, responded to RT's complaint regarding its content.

He claims that in the actions of the administration of the video hosting "there is no bias, no censorship."

“RT is one of the largest partners in Russia with a very large international audience.

We try to meet expectations and do not discriminate against any of our partners.

However, in order for videos to be included in the "recommended" or "trends", they must meet objective criteria.

The algorithms also take into account user preferences, ”he said.

"The long-term trend is not in favor of YouTube"

According to the head of the Federation Council commission on information policy and interaction with the media, Alexei Pushkov, for the actions of foreign social networks and video hosting sites that violate the legislation of the Russian Federation, it is necessary to introduce larger fines.

“YouTube feels safe, but for the time being.

For blocking Russian resources, it is necessary to introduce larger fines.

This is not a wish, but a necessity.

Multimillion-dollar fines are practiced in the EU, France, Turkey.

And we need to rapidly approve an alternative in the form of an updated Rutube, which has already started working.

The long-term trend is not in favor of YouTube, ”he wrote on his Telegram channel.

In turn, Sergei Boyarsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, noted that at the moment Russia is on foreign territory in the so-called information war unleashed by the United States and its technology companies.

“YouTube has long and regularly violated the rights of the Russian media and our Internet users to access information. On the one hand, you need to react to every fact of this kind of disgrace, alternatively - to develop your platforms. We have high hopes for the development of Rutube, given that now the consolidated management package for it is in those hands that, in my opinion, are capable of making it qualitatively better for Russian users, ”said the interlocutor of RT.

Earlier, the chairman of the State Duma commission to investigate the facts of foreign interference in the internal affairs of Russia, Vasily Piskarev, said that representatives of Google and YouTube had shown their willingness to cooperate and eliminate violations of Russian law. He emphasized that Google does not want to lose its audience on YouTube, which reaches approximately 80 million daily visits.
