China News Agency, Washington, April 23 (Reporter Sha Hanting) The White House issued a statement on the 23rd local time that US President Biden will visit Britain and Belgium in June.

This will be Biden's first overseas visit after taking office as president.

The statement stated that Biden will visit the United Kingdom from June 11 to 13, and will attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Cornwall, United Kingdom, and hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Johnson and other G7 leaders.

After that, Biden will travel to Brussels, Belgium to participate in the NATO Leaders Summit on June 14, and will hold bilateral talks with the leaders of NATO countries.

Biden will also meet with EU leaders.

The White House Press Secretary Psaki said in a statement that Biden’s trip is to show “the determination to rebuild the alliance” and aims to “reinvigorate transatlantic partnerships and work closely with allies and multilateral organizations to respond to global challenges and changes. Well protect the interests of the United States."

This visit to Europe will be Biden's first foreign visit since he took office.

In February and March of this year, Biden held video talks with the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of Mexico.

Biden met with a visiting Japanese prime minister at the White House in April. This was Biden's first offline meeting with a foreign leader.

Biden will also meet with the President of South Korea at the White House in May.

Recently, the U.S. State Department updated its travel recommendations, stating that because the new crown epidemic situation is still severe, it is recommended that Americans do not travel to 80% of the world's countries, while the United Kingdom and Belgium are both in the fourth category, that is, the "don't go" category of countries.

In response, the White House stated that it will work closely with the host country to ensure the safety of all participants.
