When SVT visits the recycling center at Klockarbäcken in Umeå, it has just opened for the day, but the "construction shed" that was introduced a week ago is almost completely empty.

- We try to collect as much as possible but we notice that it goes even faster, so it is always empty here more or less, it is a hell of a pressure, says Mårten Bläckberg, operations technician at Klockarbäcken's ÅVC.

SVT has previously reported on the construction rubble during the corona pandemic and that it has become more expensive to buy timber because there is a global shortage of wood products.

Increasingly popular with recycling

Mårten believes that it is time for recycling and that it has become more popular, he himself is renovating an old house and trying to use as much recycled material as possible.

Ramona Johansson, who works with recycled transport to, among other places, the recycling store in Umeå, also thinks that interest in recycling has increased.

- There are more and more people submitting things, it is also interesting to see what things are submitted, she says.

But is it really so much of what you collect that is recycled?

- I want to say 90 percent, so it's quite a lot, some things can not be reused either, Ramona Johansson concludes.
