As of Monday, kindergarten and elementary school students will return to school.

If parents are most often relieved, some teachers are worried about the circulation of the virus, which remains strong, as well as the low number of tests in children.

REPORTAGE

While middle and high school students will wait until May 3 to return to face-to-face class, the time has come to return to school benches for kindergarten and primary students.

At the end of three weeks at home, they return to school on Monday, while the government on Thursday specified the different stages of the gradual lifting of restrictions in the face of the coronavirus epidemic.

After having been forced to organize, sometimes with difficulty, in recent weeks, the parents are rather relieved.

But some teachers remain worried.

On Mandelieu beach, in the Alpes-Maritimes, 8-year-old Alice is enjoying her last hours of vacation, but is happy to return to school.

"I'm going to see my friends," she rejoices.

And in general, the parents are also happy, like Mélanie, mother of three children, two of whom are in primary school.

"Yes, it's a relief", she admits, "home schooling is not easy, especially homework".

And to add: "Apparently, they are going to have saliva tests every week, so that's good".

"We'll see how it goes"

400,000 saliva tests per week are in fact planned in the first degree, as well as 65 million self-tests for staff and high school students, all within the framework of a strict health protocol.

In any case, that is the government's promise.

The parents of the students are waiting to see and wonder about this return to school.

"We will see Monday because if there is a positive case, the class is closed," says a mother.

"So we're a bit of a wait, and we'll see how it goes on Monday."

Professors "quite worried"

But concern reigns among some staff.

Thus, it is the lump in the stomach that these two teachers met by Europe 1 will resume service.

"We are quite worried. The virus is still running, and the problem is also that parents will not test their children," explains the first.

"What we would like is to be able to be vaccinated and be protected ... and to have masks, because masks, we buy them, adds his colleague." We want to go, but in good conditions."

College and high school students will remain at a distance this week.

The return to class will be done gradually and in half-gauge from May 3.
