The end of a false suspense.

The Nantes deputy and former minister of ecological transition, François de Rugy, will indeed lead the LREM list to the regional elections on June 20 and 27 in Pays-de-la-Loire.

"Yes I am a candidate for the presidency of the Pays-de-la-Loire region on behalf of the presidential majority of Emmanuel Macron", he announced this Friday afternoon through a video on his new campaign website.

Aged 47, François de Rugy has been a deputy for Loire-Atlantique since 2007. He was part of the government from September 2018 to July 2019 until the controversy over the use of public funds during personal dinners.

"The stake of this election is there: to succeed together in relaunching our economy in order to be able to continue to progress while not leaving any sector or any territory aside," he explains.

Two years after the controversy

Aged 47, François de Rugy has been a deputy for Loire-Atlantique since 2007. He was part of the government from September 2018 to July 2019 until the controversy over the use of public funds during personal dinners in particular, having forced him to resign.

Long inserted in Europe ecology Les Verts, he had supported the socialist candidate Christophe Clergeau during the last regional elections in Pays-de-la-Loire.

He joined the Republic on the march in 2017.

In addition to François de Rugy, Matthieur Orphelin (EELV), Guillaume Garot (PS) and Hervé Juvin (RN) are candidates to succeed President Christelle Mor Anglais (LR).

The latter should also be a candidate but she has not yet revealed her decision.
