Wales coach Ryan Giggs, on charges of violence against two women, will not lead the Welsh side during the next Euro football, his Federation (FAW) announced on Friday.

"In light of this decision, the FAW can confirm that Robert Page will take on the role of manager of the men's national team for this summer's EURO 2020 tournament and will be assisted by Albert Stuivenberg," she said in a statement. communicated.

A spokesperson for the UK prosecution service said the former Manchester United winger would appear in Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on April 28.

"We have authorized Greater Manchester Police to charge Ryan Giggs with controlling or coercive behavior and of having committed an assault resulting in bodily harm," the prosecutor's statement said.

"A charge of assault by beating against a second woman has also been authorized," he added.

The two assault charges relate to an incident on November 1, 2020 at Giggs' home in Worsley, near Salford, with one of the two alleged victims being his partner at the material time.

Arrested on the evening of the incident, the 47-year-old was released on bail and remains under judicial supervision.

"I will plead not guilty in court and I can not wait to wash the honor of my name," said the coach in a statement.

"I have total respect for the legal process and I understand the seriousness of the allegations," he added.

Ryan Giggs was named Wales manager in 2018 after a distinguished playing career in which he won 13 England league titles and two Champions League titles.

He has also been selected 64 times for the Wales squad.
