The controversial law that imposes uniform restrictive measures for the whole national territory in the areas where the contagion due to the coronavirus pandemic comes

into force in 

Germany

, which today reports more than 23,000 new cases of coronavirus. The new measures known as the 'emergency brake', commissioned by Angela Merkel's government, are triggered when in a given district there is a weekly incidence of more than 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for three consecutive days. The measures include, among other things, a curfew from 10pm to 5am. If the incidence rises above 165 cases, schools must resort to distance learning.



The daily toll of the coronavirus in

India

still breaks new records as the government struggles to supply oxygen to hospitals overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands of new cases: nearly a million infections in three days. There have been 2,624 deaths in the past 24 hours, a new daily record, and more than 340,000 new cases, bringing India's total to 16.5 million, second only to the United States. Many experts predict that the current wave will not peak for at least another three weeks and believe that the real number of deaths and cases is much higher. 



The

United States

reached 31,986,375 confirmed cases of Covid and 571,109 deaths. According to the calculation of the Johns Hopkins University, the balance is 962 more deaths than Thursday and 71,095 new infections. California is now the most affected state in the pandemic with 61,374 deaths, followed by New York (51,850), Texas (49,877), Florida (34,759), Pennsylvania (25,927), New Jersey (25,328) and Illinois (24,083). Other states with large numbers of deaths are Georgia (19,917), Ohio (19,122), Michigan (18,283), Massachusetts (17,528) and Arizona (17,238).



There are 409 new deaths from Covid recorded in the last 24 hours in

Mexico

for a total of 214,504 deaths. This was announced by the Ministry of Health. Mexican health authorities also recorded 3,911 new infections in their daily coronavirus incidence technical report, for a total of 2,323,430 confirmed cases. With these data, Mexico is the third country in the world with the most deaths, behind the United States and Brazil, and the 14th in the number of infections. 



The

Pakistan

reported 153 deaths Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the highest number of casualties since the beginning of the pandemic in the Asian country. The Pakistani Ministry of Health announced today that Pakistan has recorded a total of 16,999 deaths and 790,016 infections (+5,908 in the last 24).
