Berlin (dpa / bb) - The coalition partners SPD, Left and Greens in Berlin are setting important personnel decisions at party congresses for the upcoming Bundestag and House of Representatives elections in the autumn.

The SPD wants to appoint its chairwoman Franziska Giffey as the top candidate for the election to the House of Representatives.

The SPD state executive nominated the Federal Family Minister in November, shortly after her election as party leader.

In addition, the Social Democrats determine their state list for the Bundestag election, which, like the House of Representatives, will take place on September 26th.

The governing mayor Michael Müller, who wants to move from the town hall to the Bundestag, should take first place on the list.

Meanwhile, the Left is compiling its complete list of countries for the election to the House of Representatives, which will take two days to Sunday.

As a top candidate, the party leadership had already nominated Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer in December, who is now to be officially elected.

He had already led the left in the 2016 election campaign.

The Greens also determine their state list for the House of Representatives.

The top candidate is Bettina Jarasch, who was chosen at a party conference in December.

Now the Greens will vote for the whole list until Sunday.

The meetings also deal with questions of content.

The SPD and the Left want to decide on their election platform for the House of Representatives.

All party congresses are under the sign of the corona pandemic.

Left and Greens meet in hotels, strict hygiene rules apply to face-to-face events, and mask and test requirements apply.

The SPD meets online.
