Munich (dpa) - The Bavarian trade has responded with pleasure to the commitment for Munich to co-host the European Football Championship this summer.

«That is good marketing for Munich.

That is useful to us, even if not many guests should come », said the managing director of the trade association of Bavaria, Bernd Ohlmann, the German press agency.

The UEFA Executive Committee decided on Friday that Munich would continue to host four European games.

The decision was made after the local authorities had confirmed that at least 14,500 spectators were possible for all games in the Allianz Arena, said UEFA.

The tricky fan question is far from being answered.

In their interpretation of the fan decision, UEFA, German politics and the German Football Association were still very far apart.

"Everything is subject to the pandemic situation," said State Chancellor Florian Herrmann (CSU) of the German Press Agency, contradicting the clear UEFA statement of a fixed audience decision.

Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) also emphasized that there is no guarantee that viewers will be admitted.

In Munich, the team of national coach Joachim Löw will play against France (June 15), Portugal (June 19) and Hungary (June 23) as well as a quarter-finals on July 2.
