Cologne / Wuppertal (dpa / lnw) - Most zoos in North Rhine-Westphalia can receive visitors after the federal emergency brake has come into force.

According to the company, the zoos in Dortmund, Münster and Gelsenkirchen will remain open.

However, visitors would now have to present the negative result of a corona rapid test, which must not be older than 24 hours, as the zoos announced on Friday.

The Wuppertal Zoo wants to reopen on Monday after a long period of closure.

Tickets must be booked online in advance.

The Cologne Zoo, however, remains closed.

The city of Cologne's crisis team decided against the background of the current infectious situation and the situation in the intensive care units, the zoo announced on Friday on its homepage and on its Facebook page.

The Infection Protection Act, which came into force on Friday, stipulates that the outdoor areas of zoos and botanical gardens may be open to visitors with a negative rapid test.
