Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Teachers at secondary schools and fire fighters can get vaccinated against the corona virus in Brandenburg from next Monday.

All over 60-year-olds and all people with an increased risk of severe disease may be vaccinated from April 26 in vaccination centers and general practitioners' practices, as the Interior Ministry announced on Friday.

The vaccination staff decided on the release for the groups from priority group 3.

Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU) commented: "We will have additional leeway with Biontech and Moderna vaccines in the coming weeks". This is used to open priorities. Priority would continue to be given to people who are particularly at risk due to their age or individual previous illnesses. "But we will also ensure that classes in Brandenburg's schools can take place safely and that our firefighters are adequately protected in good time before the start of the forest fire season," said Stübgen.

According to the Ministry of the Interior,

544 182 people

in Brandenburg have received

at least one primary vaccination

so far

.

173,337 are fully vaccinated - that's 6.9 percent of the population.

According to this, a total of 717 519 vaccinations were administered (as of April 22).

That is 18 556 reported vaccinations more than the day before.
