Löfven writes on Facebook that the USA and President Joe Biden have joined "LeadIT", which is a leadership group for the transformation of the industry.
The Prime Minister states that heavy industry and the transport sector account for about 30 percent of global emissions.
He believes that a change in the sectors is a necessary part of the fight against climate change.
Together with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, he has launched a leadership group during the UN climate summit in 2019.
Reach goals in Paris agreement
Löfven writes that the group works to support and accelerate climate change in heavy industry.
The aim is to help sectors and countries switch to fossil-free energy and facilitate innovation and technology transfer.
"I look forward to working with President Biden and others to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, by pushing for heavy industry to achieve fossil-free and net-zero emissions by 2050."
