The authors of the initiative propose to amend Articles 150 and 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Russia.
As indicated in the explanatory note to the project, the sale of firearms is currently punishable by "minor imprisonment."
"In this regard, the bill proposes to qualify the crime in the form of the sale of firearms, its main parts and ammunition as a grave crime, making it a separate part of the second article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the authors of the initiative added.
In addition, it is proposed to remove crimes related to the illegal circulation of large-caliber firearms in a separate article of the Criminal Code, as well as to introduce criminal liability for the illegal manufacture and sale of pneumatic weapons with a muzzle energy of more than 7.5 J.
At the same time, hooliganism committed with the use of flammable and pyrotechnic objects or substances is proposed to be equated with a similar act with the use of weapons.
In November, the Izvestia newspaper wrote that the State Duma is studying the issue of equalizing the requirements for the possession of rifled and smooth-bore weapons.
