"If the epidemic situation allows it in mid-May", a reopening of places of culture was possible, indicated the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot, this Friday, without giving more details.

"If the epidemic situation allows it, in mid-May, we are in a position to reopen the places of cultivation", she declared on BFMTV.

"Not that culture at stake"

To the question "museums, theaters, cinemas at the same time?

", The Minister was satisfied to answer:" We will assess the situation in the finest and most suitable way ".

“Don't lock me in a question I can't answer,” she added.

"I want places of culture to reopen as quickly as possible" and "massively", continued Roselyne Bachelot.

"But I am quite responsible" in the face of the health situation, she stressed, recalling that there is "not only culture at stake".

The reopening of places of cultivation "will be done gradually with strict compliance with precautionary measures" and according to "progressive gauges which will be adapted according to the health situation", she limited herself to specifying.

A health pass for culture?

According to Roselyne Bachelot, "the minister in charge of digital technology is preparing (a kind of) health pass (but) it will certainly not be from the start of the reopening procedure" of places of culture.

"It is a tool, it is first of all to prepare it technically, and to see its acceptability by the population because that poses ethical problems", she explained.

And to launch: "condition the entry into a place of culture to a health passport, I admit that I have a lot of trouble".

But "if that was the condition for making places of culture work, I believe that I would compromise with my principles".

“Territorialization is a good concept, (…) we will have differentiated systems” for the reopening of places of culture, the minister further argued.

Festivals could take place

Asked about the test concerts, Roselyne Bachelot spoke of projects "quite complicated" to organize and "extremely expensive companies". Citing the example of the test concert planned at Bercy (the Indochine group is voluntary), the minister explained that the room had been given "free" but that the invoice was "900,000 euros". "It could (be done) before the end of April, (say) within 15 days", she developed on this subject.

For festivals, Roselyne Bachelot mentioned the cases of Printemps de Bourges for current music, and Avignon in and off for the theater: “In the situation in which we are, yes, they will take place, we are working so that they take place ”.

Finally, a victim herself of Covid-19, hospitalized for a time, the minister confessed to having been afraid of dying, "at a very precise moment", without revealing more.
