The Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, discussed with the Dubai Central Market Merchants Working Group for vegetables and fruits, mechanisms and requirements for enhancing the flexibility and continuity of food supply chains «imported and locally produced» to the local market, and the most important challenges facing supply chains, with the aim of contributing to the achievement of Food security and sustainability, which is the strategic priority of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

This came during his visit to the Dubai Central Market for vegetables and fruits in Al Aweer, which coincides with the ministry’s endeavor to emphasize the flow and flexibility of supply chains, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

During the visit, Al-Nuaimi was briefed on the modern technologies that have been employed in all market departments and facilities, especially the warehouse sections, which have a daily capacity of 200,000 tons, and are supervised by a group of specialists and quality controllers, and they work with techniques that ensure the safety and quality of products permanently.

The minister noted the efforts made by the Vegetable and Fruit Merchants Working Group to ensure the availability of food and the continuity of its supply chains, in line with the highest food safety standards.

It is noteworthy that the Fruit and Vegetable Traders Working Group includes 200 companies, 10% of which are small and medium-sized companies.
