Koblenz (dpa / lrs) - In Rhineland-Palatinate, 1071 new infections with the corona virus were registered within one day.

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days fell slightly to 139.9 on Friday, as the State Investigation Office (LUA) in Koblenz announced.

The day before, this value was 142.4.

16,000 people are currently infected.

Since the pandemic began in the country at the end of February 2020, there have been 134,999 laboratory-confirmed infections.

The number of people who died related to Covid-19 rose by 9 to 3,513.

The seven-day incidence values ​​were highest in the cities of Ludwigshafen (246.1), Worms (226.2), Speyer (217.6) and Frankenthal (203.0) and in the Donnersberg district (237.6).

This value was lowest in the district of Südwestpfalz with 71.7.

In the intensive care units in Rhineland-Palatinate, 186 patients were treated for Covid-19 on Friday (as of 12.15 p.m.), 94 of them were ventilated.

Of the 1,196 intensive care beds reported as ready for use in the state's hospitals, 925 were occupied, as can be seen from data in the intensive care register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi).
