The hour passed by 2:30 on Thursday afternoon, and the Egyptians did not hear the expected news of striking the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and some wished or wished themselves a quick blow to stop the danger of the dam threatening the water security of the country, whose present and history was linked to the Nile River.

Yesterday, Thursday, it coincided with the anniversary of the Egyptian army crossing the fortified Israeli Bar-Lev Line in the first hours of the war that began on October 6, 1973, the day on which the tenth of Ramadan in 1393 coincided with the emigration of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.

During the past days, tweeters spoke of wishing that the tenth of Ramadan would coincide with an end to the dam crisis, which threatens Egypt's future and national security.

And between the gloating of those who bet that nothing will happen, and the frustration of those who hoped for a quick, swift and effective blow, the tweets of Egyptians varied.

The Egyptian army was supposed to hit the Renaissance Dam on the tenth of Ramadan

People who would have confirmed that Sisi would hit the Renaissance Dam on the 10th of Ramadan.

I would love to tell you that we are now on the 10th of Ramadan and the dam will not be blown away, and there is no need.

What do you think is left?

We drew on the heart the face of the nation ... palm, elephant and original people

And Egypt is there for you all the time ... to keep your youth generation and generation

On # 10th of Ramadan, 1393 AH, we wrote tournaments to reclaim our land

And we are waiting for new tournaments to be established to regain our nile. # If_motor_nash_ you will be destroyed pic.twitter.com/yiPdWuVT0n

Over the past few days, the talk about the danger of the Renaissance Dam has been dominated by other Egyptian concerns, especially with the successive statements of Ethiopian officials revealing that the second filling of the dam lake will proceed without regard to the demands of the downstream countries of Egypt and Sudan.

Under the hashtag (# If_Move_Nash_You will be sabotaged), tweets continued, calling for the army to act quickly so that Egypt would not be thirsty, and agricultural lands evaded, criticizing the state's departure to less important projects and holding meetings of senior officials that did not address the most dangerous issue.

Some of them called on President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to withdraw from the principles agreement he signed in 2015 and according to which Ethiopia was officially granted the right to build the dam, after previous agreements were the guarantors of Egypt's rights to its share of the river's water.

The matter culminated in two tweets of writing an imagined version of the Armed Forces Statement Number One that will be broadcast after the strike.

Ethiopia made a joint defense agreement with China (defending mega projects)!

O Lord, see a mistake and hit the dam and our relative from the desalination stations and the lining of canals and empty words.

I don’t understand Sisi’s words and salvation. I’m waiting for what, why should I withdraw from the declaration of principles that he signed.

On the other hand, Tweeters opposed to the current regime participated in the marking, who went further, demanding that the move be against the regime itself, claiming that its presence at the head of power prevents the army from moving to strike the dam, and accused the regime of taking into account the interests of its allies who support the construction of the dam.

On the other hand, it seemed that there is a party that wants this enthusiasm to be extinguished, claiming that the dam will collapse on its own as a result of armed conflicts on its sides, and therefore “there is no need to worry and call for war in the first place,” in addition to the existence of several alternatives to the Nile River.

Tweeters mocked these wishes and some calls for the armed forces to take action, stressing that there are no positive signs of that. Rather, the officials ’statements confirm the reversal of these wishes.

The negotiations of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan failed regarding the way to fill and operate the dam, as the Ethiopian side adhered to its point of view, and the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed called, on Wednesday, for a meeting of the African Union to end the crisis of talks that stopped last week in the Congo without results.

"If the parties negotiate in good faith, the results are within our reach," Abiy Ahmed added, adding that his country "still believes that the best way forward is to continue the tripartite negotiations within the framework of the African Union-led process to reach a win-win outcome."

Abiy Ahmed's message comes a few days after Ethiopia's attack on Egypt and Sudan in a letter to the Security Council, accusing the two countries of refusing to make concessions and engage in good-faith negotiations on resolving the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam crisis.

Egypt and Sudan are calling for the participation of a quadripartite international mediation mechanism, which includes the African Union, the European Union, the United States and the United Nations, in the stalled negotiations on the Renaissance Dam, which Ethiopia rejects.

In a related context, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has been on an African tour that includes Kenya, South Africa, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Tunisia, carrying special messages from Sisi, to explain the developments of the Renaissance Dam file and support the path of reaching a binding legal agreement.

Egypt fears the impact of the dam on its water quota, which is estimated at 55.5 billion cubic meters, and relies on it to meet its needs by more than 90%.

Weeks ago, President El-Sisi warned of compromising the waters of the Nile, stressing that "all options are on the table."
