In front of the church where the ceremony took place, they were dozens with Black Lives Matter flags and signs in homage to Daunte Wright.

Residents came to express their support for the family.

“

We're one big family and attacks are ongoing against young black men.

Daunte could have been my brother.

 "

It hurts… we just want justice,

 " said this woman.

The funeral takes place just three days after

Derek Chauvin's conviction for the murder

of Georges Flody.

Daunte Wright was 20 years old.

He was killed ten days ago during a check-up.

The officer who shot him allegedly mistook his taser for his weapon.

Inside the church, her mother struggled to speak: “

I never imagined I would be here.

The roles should be reversed.

He's the one who should have buried me.

 "

Along with the hundreds of relatives and friends present were the family of Georges Floyd, elected officials from Minnesota, civil rights fighter Al Sharpton.

They all demanded that justice be done for Daunte Wright's death.

The policewoman who shot him is already being prosecuted for manslaughter.
