Hanover (dpa / lni) - To better understand coronavirus infections, the Hanover Medical School (MHH) is looking for infected children and adolescents.

The experts are interested in those currently tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 between the ages of 0 and 18, as the MHH announced on Friday.

So far, there has been uncertainty as to how children and adolescents with previous illnesses, for example after a transplant or with immunodeficiency, cope with the disease, it said to justify the study.

The doctors invite you to participate regardless of previous illnesses and severity of symptoms.

After consultation with the health department, the child receives a particularly comprehensive diagnosis during the examination.

This includes a physical examination, a blood sample including antibody measurement, a nasopharynx swab with the determination of the variant of the pathogen and advice on how to proceed if the symptoms increase.

According to the MHH, previous studies have mainly shown mild progressions compared to adults.

So far, however, there is little information about the frequency, course and long-term consequences of an infection in children and adolescents.
