Regensburg (dpa / lby) - Ten months after the fatal shots at a 57-year-old in Regensburg, the trial against the alleged perpetrator begins in the regional court there.

The prosecution charges the man with murder.

The start is on Friday, five days of negotiations are initially scheduled.

According to the indictment, the 55-year-old defendant lay in wait for his victim in front of his apartment in Regensburg in June 2020 - with the intention of shooting him.

The man believed that the 57-year-old had a relationship with his wife.

When the alleged rival came out of the house to drive to work, the public prosecutor was convinced that he met the defendant who, after a brief conversation, pulled a gun out of his jacket pocket and fired five shots at his victim.

The 57-year-old died on the scene.

The suspect, a German, fled on foot and was caught by the police a little later.

He has been in custody since then.
