Leipzig (dpa / sn) - In Saxony, IG Metall has again called for warning strikes in the metal and electrical industry.

In six plants in Zwickau, Hainichen, Chemnitz, Dresden and Meerane, production has come to a standstill, as several union spokesmen announced on Friday morning.

Among others, there is a strike at Volkswagen, Thyssenkrupp and GKN Driveline Germany.

According to a union spokesman, the Volkswagen plant in Dresden was completely closed, and the group confirmed this. The strike is to last for a total of 24 hours at all locations in Saxony until the early shift on Saturday morning.

Because of the corona pandemic, there are no gatherings.

In Dresden and Meerane, however, there are small strike guards in front of the factories.

The reason for the renewed warning strikes is, among other things, the dispute over the collective bargaining allowance demanded by the union.

According to one of the union spokespersons, employees in East Germany receive the same wages as their colleagues in West Germany, but work three hours longer a week.

In addition, the strikers are concerned with securing jobs and raising wages, said the union spokesman.
