Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg State Opera would like to resume its performance at the end of May - provided that the incidence value in Hamburg allows this.

"At the current planning stage, the curtain will rise again on May 28 with the premiere of Georg Friedrich Handel's opera" Agrippina ", staged by Barrie Kosky and the musical direction by Riccardo Minasi," announced the State Opera on Friday.

The following day the Hamburg Ballet followed with the world premiere of John Neumeier's “Beethoven Project II” under the direction of Kent Nagano.

In the run-up to the 46th Hamburg Ballet Days, the Hamburg Ballet would like to show a performance of “Death in Venice” on June 9th.

The resumption of this production was the last performance of the company with a live audience before the long-lasting culture lockdown.

"After a historically unique interruption of performance of almost seven months, it is important to me to welcome our audience with open arms," said ballet director John Neumeier.

The Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra also wants to play in front of an audience again in June.

As already tested last autumn, all events should be carried out in compliance with all distance and hygiene rules.

As things stand today, visitors also need a negative corona test result in order to be able to visit performances.
